A Thankful Heart

Sometimes you have to go back to your 4th grade art class ... primary colors never get old together.

This card is all cut up and ready for you to put together the next time the Pretty Pieces Café is open. That's October 23rd and 24th. We have a lot of time to get some new cards added to the mix.

Freshly Made Sketches #144

A girl needs help sometimes. We all have a box we like to stay in if we're honest enough to admit it. In order to appeal to everyone who comes to the Pretty Pieces Café I like to offer things that may not be my "style".  It helps to try a little sketch challenge now and then.

This is Sketch #144 from Freshly Made Sketches. They're aiming at "clean" over there, something that I need to work on!!! This card will join all of the other cards under the Al A Carte tab above!! You can come make this and many more at my house on July 22nd from 10am until 8pm. Read further details when you're looking at all of the other pretty cards.

NEW!!

If you haven't already marked your calendar for July 22nd maybe this will help you remember. The Pretty Pieces Café will be open on that Tuesday from 10am until 8pm. Here are two new cards that are being added to the Al A Carte section. Aren't they bright and cheerful???

If you're new to the whole Al A Carte concept, click on the tab above with that name. You will see all of the cards that are cut up and ready for you to assemble when the Pretty Pieces Café is open. These cards change each time. New cards are being added and others are eventually used up. You never know exactly what's available until you come here. 

Open for Business

The Pretty Pieces Café will be open on June 18th from 10am until 6pm. There are new cards available. These have been added to Al A Carte.

Birthday Card ... you can never have too many.

For the first time ever I've created a card that you can make one of two ways. Use either side of the paper and either stamp set. It's always nice to have options.

Hi!

Just in case you're wondering ... YES, there will be new cards in the Pretty Pieces Café on Wednesday, June 18th. 

Last month there were 7 cards that needed to be retired. Thank You to everyone who came and made a card or two ... or ten!! I'm working hard to replenish the supply. It's hard to say how many more new cards there will be. BUT there will be more. Keep an eye on this blog to see them.

Al A Carte Sunshine

It's so exciting to announce that there's an Al A Carte layout in the mix for the next time the Pretty Pieces Café is open. All you have to do is come on May 30th ready to create. This layout is all cut out and ready for you to assemble.

You will need your adhesive and that's about it!!! Your own piercing tool and sanding block will help but I have those too. This layout hold 6 photos easily with very little cropping (2 horizontal and 4 vertical.) You can also fit a few extras in as you see fit. If you have those pictures bring them along. OR make the layout and take your camera out next time you're at the beach or kids are running through the backyard sprinkler.

There will be a graduation card available in the Pretty Pieces Café on May 30th!!! Woo! Hoo!

Why is this so exciting? For some reason I like it when a grad card is the "right" color. So to make one that suits every potential school is really tricky. Well, it used to be before I created this. It's simple and all you need to make it just right for your graduate is to change up the color strip.

Better with Friends

I love this sentiment ... It's hard to imagine life without friends.

If you guessed that this is being added to the Al A Carte section you'd be absolutely right. If you're wondering if these colors are accurate you'll have to come to the Pretty Pieces Café on May 30th to see what they really look like. 

(sometimes the instant fix tool in photo correcting just doesn't get it right!!)

In case you wondering ... I'm still creating cards to put into the Al A Carte section. There's always a request for masculine cards so here you go.

How Did It Go?

Everyone has been asking about the first weekend of the Pretty Pieces Café. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. How about a bunch of pictures!?!

We had three Box Card Banquets. The Café was open for Al A Carte cards and Take Out pick up. It was a whirlwind of fun!! A big thank you to everyone who came and made the first opening a success.

Here's what a little of what happened at the Box Card Banquets.

On Friday the Café was open for Al A Carte card making. That means each person chose the quantity and style of the cards they wanted. All they had to do was pick up their "serving tray" and go through the line to pick up their supplies.

WARNING ... if you bring your kids I might just put them to work - LOL!

Don't worry I helped. My lovely assistant Lizzy and I cleaned up a whole lot of paper scraps while the card making continued in the other room. We were a great team. AND she was paid handsomely with a box full of colorful paper scraps! At least she thought it was a great reward.







The next time the Pretty Piece Café will be open is May 30th from 10am until 8pm. Mark your calendar and plan to be there at whatever time works best for you. We'll have Al A Carte cards AND a Delicious Jewelry Buffet.

Thank You for Everything

Things are coming together for our first opening on May 2nd from 10am until 8pm.  You've seen a whole bunch of cards that will be available. Here's one more!!!

I believe that if you pay attention in your life you can probably send a thank you note to someone every day. There's just so much to be thankful for and most of it comes through the people in our lives. Start thinking about someone you want to thank NOT because you're obligated by social tradition but because you're truly thankful for the people in your life.

Yes ... I AM thinking of you when I make these cards. As I stock up the Al A Carte section above I'm aiming at some variety. It's trickier than you think because I love flowery cards. AND I love this paper, don't you?

Altered "Recipe"

Do you ever get a recipe from someone and change it up? Maybe it has an ingredient your family doesn't like. OR you have something in your refrigerator that you could use up? 

This week I received the card below in the mail. Isn't it adorable??? I love everything about it except the labor!! That beautiful "patterned" paper is hand stamped. I don't do that! So ... Close To My Heart paper to the rescue. Same idea only a whole lot easier. 

Thank you to Anne Rukke for letting me copy her card. It's only fitting that I show you here because Anne is on the Pretty Pieces team. I'm hoping to show you what the other girls cook up in the future.

Look What I Found

Close To My Heart paper is on trend and timeless all at once!! I love that.
